Company-Wide "Purple Days"
Throughout the year, our Partners complete many small-group service opportunities supporting their personal passions and a wide variety of causes – from food banks to donation drives to clean-up projects. Starting in spring 2018, Union Home Mortgage Partners will come together on a single day and participate in dozens of service projects across the country for the company’s first ever “Purple Day.” Catch our Partners in action in your local communities or contact us if you have an upcoming service opportunity and are in need of volunteers!
Operation Backpack helps prepare students for the school year by providing all the supplies they need to succeed. We hosted a Pack It Project and our employees donated backpacks, markers, glue, pencils, highlighters, crayons, notebooks and more and filled 51 backpacks during the summer of 2017. These backpacks went to students who need them in homeless shelters and partner families of the Volunteers of America.
Intern Day of Service
The Boys and Girls Club of America helps millions of kids and teens develop essential skills, make connections and have fun. During our summer internship program, 70 interns spent a day painting outdoor games, planter boxes, cleaning up classrooms, litter and landscaping at four Boys & Girls Clubs in Cleveland. They even spent some time playing basketball, kickball and having fun with students.
North Carolina Food Bank
Our Partners from North Carolina spent two hours at North Carolina's Food Bank. After a quick tour and instructions from the Food Bank's branch director, they sorted through two pallets of sweet potatoes. The good ones were bagged in 5lb bags and the rest were given to nearby hog farmers to feed the pigs. Our Partners had a lot of fun giving back to the community and plan to do it again soon.
To honor the victims, survivors and heroes of 9/11, our Arizona Partners placed American flags in a Healing Field Memorial in Tempe, Arizona. Each American flag had the name of a victim who died during the Sept. 11th terror attacks. Almost 3,000 flags cover the field at Tempe Beach Park to create the Tempe Healing Field.
Cincinnati Clothes Drive
Our Dayton and Kentucky Partners worked with Matthew 25: Ministries to sort clothes and prepare them for distribution for relief around the world, including Hurricane Harvey survivors.
Partner Impact Awards
Each year, the Union Home Foundation awards 5 Partners who make a difference in their local community by volunteering their time, helping others in need or deeply involved in service through their church. Each winner receives a $2,000 grant from the Union Home Foundation to be awarded to a 501(c)(3) charity of their choice.
